RECOGNITION OF PERSONALITIES

The Board of Trustees of the PNASF have been pleased to announce periodical awards to national and international personalities who have made outstanding contribution in food and nutrition security towards human kind. The first of the series of PNASF Awards was presented to the following candidates by the Chief Guest Honourable Chief Minister, Mr. S. M. Krishna, Karnataka State during the ICV-2002 held from 11-14 November, 2002.
 
PNASF AWARDS
  • For Outstanding leadership in organizing the SEAVEG-2012 the PNASF award was presented to Dr. Robert J. Holmer (Thailand) by Dr. Olivia La O’ Castillo, Member, United Nations Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation (UNSGAB), Manila, Philippines, during SEAVEG-2012, High Value Vegetables in Southeast Asia: Production, Supply and Demand, held on 24-26 January 2012, in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
  • For Outstanding leadership in organizing the SEAVEG 2012 the PNASF award was presented to Dr. Grisana Linwattana (Thailand) by Dr. Olivia La O’ Castillo, Member, United Nations Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation (UNSGAB), Manila, Philippines, during SEAVEG-2012, High Value Vegetables in Southeast Asia: Production, Supply and Demand, held on 24-26 January 2012, in Chiang Mai, Thailand.


VEGINET AWARDS
  • Outstanding contribution in Vegetable Research and Development was presented to Prof. Joao da Silva Dias (Portugal) by Mr. Hiroyuki Konuma, ADG, FAO RAP, Bangkok, during SEAVEG-2012, High Value Vegetables in Southeast Asia: Production, Supply and Demand, held on 24-26 January 2012, in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
  • The Best Oral Paper of SEAVEG 2012 was presented to Dr. Allan P. Bacho, (Philippines) by Dr. Jacqueline d ’Arros Hughes, DDG (Research), AVRDC, Taiwan, during SEAVEG-2012, High Value Vegetables in Southeast Asia: Production, Supply and Demand, held on 24-26 January 2012, in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

FIRST PNASF INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL AWARDS

The PNASF, Bangalore announced the First International and National Gold and Silver Medal Awards for known personalities who had contributed significantly to agriculture/horticulture, food and nutritional security.

The PNASF Meritorious Award was given to the two outstanding gardeners Shri. Brij Pal and Shri. Khatir Zuma of the Central Public Works Department, (Floriculture) New Delhi on the Independence Day, 2003.

  • Mr. P.B. Gaddagimath
    Technical Officer at the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bangalore, received the PNASF Silver Medal for his outstanding work by H.E. the Governor of Karnataka, Dr. Hans Raj Bhardwaj during the Book Release Ceremony on September 25, 2010 at the Raj Bhawan, Bangalore.
  • M/S Scientific Publishers, Jodhpur
    Represented by Mrs. Shipra Sharma received the PNASF certificate of merit by the H.E. the Governor of Karnataka, Dr. Hans Raj Bhardwaj.

RESEARCH AWARDS
 
  • PNASF/IIHR/2002 : Gold Medal was awarded to Dr. T. Janakiram, Principal Scientist, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research for his outstanding contribution in Horticulture towards Food and Nutritional Security. This is the 2nd Gold Medal being award by PNASF to IIHR Scientists for their outstanding contribution in Horticulture towards Food and Nutritional Security. The award will be presented during the forth coming International Conference on Horticulture(ICH-2009), to be held at Bangalore during Nov 9-12, 2009.
  • The PNASF Gold Medal (2001) was awarded to Dr. O.P. Dutta for his most outstanding research contribution towards food security at the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Hessaraghatta, Bangalore.
  • The PNASF Gold Medal (2005) was awarded to Dr. S.K. Malhotra for his outstanding research contribution towards seed spices at the National Research Centre on Seed Spices, Ajmer, Rajasthan.
  • The PNASF Gold Medal (2008) was awarded to Dr. T. Janakiram, former Principal Scientist at the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bangalore and presently with the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi for outstanding contribution in Horticulture by IIHR, Bangalore Scientist towards Food and Nutritional Security.
